Description |
The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA), owner and operator of the NFTA Metro Rail and Bus service, invites interested Consultants to submit a technical proposal for design services for the Metro – Fare Collection System Upgrade project.
The overall project objective is to replace the fare collection system for the bus and rail operations. It will include replacement of fare boxes on three hundred and seven buses and seventy four para-transit vehicles, replacement of the ticket vending machines at fourteen rail stations and four transit centers, Replacement of five cash vault systems at three bus garages, and replacement of the computer hardware equipment for fare collections. In addition, new fare gates will be installed at eight underground rail stations.
The project objective for this proposal is to furnish design services to create a Request for Proposal (RFP) that will be used to solicit qualified contractors that will provide, install, and perform all work necessary to accomplish the project objective stated above. |

The Request for Proposals (RFP) may be examined in the 7th Floor Conference Room, 181 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, New York 14203. Copies of the RFP are available at no charge and shall be requested from Judy Reeves at 716-855-7342 or fax 716-855-7447 and can be downloaded from the Authority's Engineering website at www.nftaengineering.com. The RFP may be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or sent via courier billed to the requester. Plan Holders shall register “on-line” at the Authority's Engineering website at www.nftaengineering.com under this Project prior to obtaining the RFP.

Proposals will be accepted via online (electronic) submission only.
Paper proposals will not be accepted.
Proposal shall be submitted on the NFTA Engineering website at www.nftaengineering.com. This website is primarily used to receive bids for capital projects; any reference to bid in the website will be synonymous with proposal.

Proposals must be in a .pdf format in files no larger than 10 MB. File names must adhere to the following naming convention:
NFTA Proj. No.31AW1219_company name_##_of_##.pdf
For example: If the electronic proposal is 15MB in size, it will have to be separated into two files each no larger than 10MB. The file name for the first file would look like the following example:
31AW1219_XYZ Consultants_01_of_02.pdf
Proposals received after the date and time specified above for opening shall be considered late proposals and, therefore, shall not be opened and/or considered for award.
The Contractor shall perform not less than 50% of the work with its own forces.
The time of completion for the project is 330 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed.
MWBE participation goals are as follows:
10% for MBE
10% for WBE
