Description |
The project work provides for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of 3,165 linear feet of Taxiway A between the Runway 5 end and Taxiway D, removal and replacement of existing taxiway edge lighting with new LED fixtures, installation of in pavement taxiway centerline lights with new LED in pavement lights; and construction of pavement underdrains, and replacement of storm drainage systems, installed in conformance with current FAA recommended standards. Work shall proceed in strict accordance with these documents and the FAA Construction Safety and Phasing Plan completed for the project work.
The Taxiway A pavement rehabilitation requires the removal of existing asphalt pavement overlay on concrete pavement, removal of existing concrete pavements, full depth asphalt pavement construction, variable depth asphalt pavement overlays, full depth PCC pavement construction, joint and crack repair, storm drainage work, installation of pavement underdrain systems, and installation of new taxiway pavement markings.
Concurrent with the pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction, associated project electrical work will include, installation of new in pavement LED taxiway centerline lights on the remaining portion of taxiway A, installation of new LED taxiway edge lighting, and completion of Taxiway A centerline and edge lighting circuits necessary to conform with current standards. |

The Contract Documents may be examined in the 7th Floor Conference Room, 181 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, New York 14203 or on the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website at www.nftaengineering.com. Online registration is required to become a Document Holder and obtain Contract Documents. Copies of the Contract Documents are available for $100.00 and may be requested from Cindy Cirbus at 716-855-7342 or fax 716-855-7447 or downloaded from the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. Requests may be accompanied by certified check, cashier’s check or postal money order drawn in favor of the NFTA. This sum is non-refundable. The Contract Documents may be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or sent via courier billed to the requester.

The NFTA reserves the right to waive irregularities, to reject any or all bids and to extend the bidding period. Bid security must accompany each bid and must be in an amount not less than ten percent of the total bid price if the base bid exceeds $50,000.00. Bid security may be submitted prior to bid opening either electronically utilizing Surety2000 at www.surety2000.com, or delivered to the NFTA in an opaque sealed envelope. Details for electronic submission are provided on the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. In the event a bidder utilizes an offline bid but provides bid security electronically the electronic bid bond number must be submitted with the offline bid.
The Contractor shall perform not less than 25% of the work with its own forces.
The Project will be implemented under two (2) separate Notices to Proceed, Notice to Proceed No.1
(NTP-1) and Notice to Proceed No. 2 (NTP-2). The Notices to Proceed are contingent on the obligation of
project funding and are as prescribed in Technical Specification Sections 01 10 00 “Summary”.
The overall time of completion for the project is 198 continuous calendar days from Notice to Proceed
No.1 (NTP-1).
Refer to Technical Specification Sections 01 10 00 “Summary” for time constraints associated with this
project.
Liquidated damages will be assessed against the Contractor for its failure to complete the project within the time specified as described in Technical Specification Sections 01 10 00 “Summary”.
The percentage goal of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation in the project shall be 16.9%.
A Pre-Bid Conference will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Buffalo Niagara
International Airport, in the ARFF conference room located at 120 Amherst Villa Road, Cheektowaga, NY
14225.
