Description The project objective is to renovate an existing space for the Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BNIA) Backup Data Center.

The Work of this project provides for the furnishing of all labor, materials, appliances, tools, equipment and plant, and the performing of all Work in accordance with the specifications and drawings, with exception of work that is expressly and specifically not included in the project.

The project consists of converting an 830 square foot first floor space into a backup data center for the BNIA. In addition, there is an alternate to renovate an existing 2,466 square foot office space above the new data center.

BASE BID work shall include, but not be limited to the following: New outdoor gas generator, equipment pad, New power distribution, new lighting, branch circuits, HVAC, electrical devices, IT rack connections for HVAC & Power, cable tray, pipe work for natural gas; refrigeration and condensate,

ALTERNATE #1 work shall include, but not be limited to the following: Electrical work associated with the 2nd floor office space: Lighting, devices and branch circuit wiring, Roughed-in junction boxes for data outlets with stub-ups to accessible ceiling, Roughed-in junction boxes for security devices with stub-ups to accessible ceiling at security door locations.

Online registration is required to become a Document Holder and obtain Contract Documents. Copies of the Contract Documents are available for $25.00 and may be requested from Cindy Cirbus at 716-855-7342 or fax 716-855-7447 or downloaded from the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. Requests may be accompanied by company check, certified check, cashier’s check or postal money order drawn in favor of the NFTA. This sum is non-refundable. The Contract Documents may be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or sent via courier billed to the requester.

Special Instructions The NFTA reserves the right to waive irregularities, to reject any or all bids and to extend the bidding period.

Bid security must accompany each bid and must be in an amount not less than ten percent of the total bid price if the base bid exceeds $50,000.00. Bid security may be submitted prior to bid opening either electronically utilizing Surety2000 at www.surety2000.com, or delivered to the NFTA in an opaque sealed envelope. Details for electronic submission are provided on the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. In the event a bidder utilizes an offline bid but provides bid security electronically the electronic bid bond number must be submitted with the offline bid.

The Contractor shall perform not less than 40% of the work with its own forces.
The time of completion for the project is 150 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages in the amount of $500.00 per calendar day will be assessed against the Contractor for its failure to complete the project within the time specified.

The percentage goal is 30% for Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) (18% MBE & 12% WBE) and 6% for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB).

A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 9:00A.M. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. The meeting will be held in the NFTA conference room at 485 Cayuga Road, Cheektowaga, NY 14225.
