Description |
This project shapes an 1100 feet ditch and replaces an associated taxiway drain inlet at the Niagara Falls International Airport. Ditch work is perfumed on a segment of an existing north-south drainage ditch running parallel along the west side of Taxiway ‘K’ and includes:
• Installation of erosion and sediment control measures including turbidity curtain, sediment trap – ditch dam, and check dam – sandbag.
• Excavation and off site secure disposal of materials.
• Installation of rolled erosion control product.
• Establishment of turf.
Drain inlet replacement includes:
• Full depth saw cutting of existing PCC pavement.
• Removal and disposal of existing PCC pavement.
• Preparation of subgrade soils.
• Installation of new subbase materials.
• Dowel bar installation.
• Installation and finishing of new PCC pavement.
• Joint sealing, pavement marking, and turf restoration.
• Drainage structure removal and replacement.
• Partial depth PCC Pavement repairs consisting of the removal and replacement of deteriorated PCC pavement with rapid set polymer concrete repair material. |

The Contract Documents may be examined in the 7th Floor Conference Room, 181 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, New York 14203 or on the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website at www.nftaengineering.com. Online registration is required to become a Plan Holder and obtain Contract Documents. Copies of the Contract Documents are available for $50 and may be requested from Judy Reeves at 716-855-7342 or fax 716-855-7447 or downloaded from the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. Requests may be accompanied by company check, certified check, cashier’s check or postal money order drawn in favor of the NFTA. This sum is non-refundable. The Contract Documents may be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or sent via courier billed to the requester.

The NFTA reserves the right to waive irregularities, to reject any or all bids and to extend the bidding period.
Bid security must accompany each bid and must be in an amount not less than ten percent of the total bid price if the base bid exceeds $50,000.00. Bid security may be submitted prior to bid opening either electronically utilizing Surety2000 at www.surety2000.com, or delivered to the NFTA in an opaque sealed envelope. Details for electronic submission are provided on the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. In the event a bidder utilizes an offline bid but provides bid security electronically the electronic bid bond number must be submitted with the offline bid.
The Contractor shall perform not less than 50% of the work with its own forces.
The time of completion for the project is 82 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages will be assessed against the Contractor for its failure to complete the project within the time specified.
A Pre-Bid conference will be held on Thursday March 6, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the second floor Conference Room at the Niagara Falls International Airport Terminal, 2035 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Niagara Falls, New York 14304.
Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE) / MWBE participation is strongly encouraged.
