Description SUMMARY OF WORK
The Work of this project provides for the furnishing of all labor, materials, appliances, tools, equipment and the performing of all Work in accordance with these specifications and drawings.

The project consists of one (1) contract. BASE BID work shall include, but not be limited to:

Removal of existing porcelain enameled metal wall/ceiling panels and their associated attachment framing and hardware.

The installation of new wall tile, wall panels, ceiling panels, architectural lighting and speakers.

The removal, rework and reinstallation electrical wiring and conduit , radio transmission wiring/antenna’s fire/smoke alarms and other incidental device.

Most removal and reinstallation work will be performed on scaffolding which will span over the stairs and at least one escalator at a time. At all times the center stairs, and a path of egress, must remain fully accessible as well as the one operational escalator.

Other work as depicted in the contract documents for the Escalator Tube and the inbound and outbound Cross Corridor at Delavan-Canisius NFTA-Metro Station located at 1853 Main Street (at East Delavan Avenue), Buffalo New York. All work is to be completed in conformance with the requirements of all applicable codes in this regard.

Once work is started, the Contractor shall be on site continuously until all work is complete.

Online registration is required to become a Document Holder and obtain Contract Documents. Copies of the Contract Documents are available for $25 and may be requested from Cindy Cirbus at 716-855-7342 or fax 716-855-7447 or downloaded from the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. Requests may be accompanied by company check, certified check, cashier’s check or postal money order drawn in favor of the NFTA. This sum is non-refundable. The Contract Documents may be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or sent via courier billed to the requester.

Special Instructions The NFTA reserves the right to waive irregularities, to reject any or all bids and to extend the bidding period.
Bid security must accompany each bid and must be in an amount not less than ten percent of the total bid price if the base bid exceeds $50,000.00. Bid security may be submitted prior to bid opening either electronically utilizing Surety2000 at www.surety2000.com, or delivered to the NFTA in an opaque sealed envelope. Details for electronic submission are provided on the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. In the event a bidder utilizes an offline bid but provides bid security electronically the electronic bid bond number must be submitted with the offline bid.

The Contractor shall perform not less than 25% of the work with its own forces.
The time of completion for the project is 180 calendar days from start of construction. Liquidated damages in the amount of $875 per calendar day will be assessed against the Contractor for its failure to complete the project within the time specified.

The percentage goal of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation in the project shall be
1.37%.

A Pre-Bid Conference will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Metropolitan Transportation Center (“MTC”), 7th Floor Conference Room, 181 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, New York 14203. Immediately following the pre-bid meeting there will be a site survey/walk through at the project site: Delavan Canisus College Station 1863 Main Street Buffalo, New York 14208.
