Description SUMMARY OF WORK:

The Work of this project provides for the furnishing of all labor, materials, appliances, tools, equipment and plant, and the performing of all Work in accordance with these specifications and drawings, with exception of work that is expressly and specifically not included in the project.

The project consists of one (1) contract.

BASE BID work shall include, but not be limited to:

Renovations to approximately 4100 sf of currently vacant first floor. Renovations will include the creation of a Metro Service Center, including a help desk with support spaces, manager’s office, break room and toilet rooms. The balance of the work area will be left unfinished and be completed in the future. Work shown in these areas is for reference only. Fire protection, plumbing, mechanical and electrical services will also be replaced/renovated throughout along with a new concrete floor slab.

BID ALTERNATE work shall include, but not be limited to:

Bid Alternate #1: Provide to the base bid all materials and labor to install the VRF System as shown on the Mechanical Drawings and as specified in Section 238126. Include outdoor unit module, indoor ceiling cassette units, branch controller, refrigerant piping and insulation, controls and wiring, drain piping and training.

Bid Alternate #2: Provide to the base bid all materials and labor to install the Open-Curtain Grilles as shown on the Architectural and final electrical connection as shown on the Electrical drawings and as specified in Section 083326.

Copies of the Contract Documents are available for $25.00 and may be requested from Cindy Cirbus at 716-855-7342 or fax 716-855-7447 or downloaded from the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. Requests may be accompanied by company check, certified check, cashier’s check or postal money order drawn in favor of the NFTA. This sum is non-refundable. The Contract Documents may be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or sent via courier billed to the requester.

Special Instructions The NFTA reserves the right to waive irregularities, to reject any or all bids and to extend the bidding period.
Bid security must accompany each bid and must be in an amount not less than ten percent of the total bid price if the base bid exceeds $50,000.00. Bid security may be submitted prior to bid opening either electronically utilizing Surety2000 at, or delivered to the NFTA in an opaque sealed envelope. Details for electronic submission are provided on the NFTA’s Engineering Branch website. In the event a bidder utilizes an offline bid but provides bid security electronically the electronic bid bond number must be submitted with the offline bid.

The Contractor shall perform not less than 25% of the work with its own forces.
The time of completion for the project is 175 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages in the amount of $500.00 per calendar day will be assessed against the Contractor for its failure to complete the project within the time specified.

The Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) participation goal is 30% and the Service disable Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB) participation goal is 7%.

A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for June 1, 2018 at 9:00 AM. The meeting will be held in the 1st floor concourse by the elevators at 181 Ellicott Street, Buffalo NY 14203.
